I woke this morning with a sore throat and runny nose. It is very irritating. I hate things that slow me down. Though my throat has improved as the day has, it is still is bothersome. I am pretending that I do not feel icky.

As for the other weather, last night there was fog like you wouldn't believe. My shadow couldn't reach the ground it was so thick. Of course, I am open to the possibility that there's just something odd about my shadow. But I'd stand outside in front of a light and my shadow would just darken the fog instead of the ground.

Dana Reeve, Christopher Reeve's wife, is currently on TV speaking about stem cell research. Stem cell research is extremely important, even personally to me. Over the last year or so, my family has learned that a member has Alzheimer's. I have slowly watched this horrible thing grow. I watched it make somebody forget how to tune a guitar. That's when it kind of hit home for me. This is my genetic background, my history, and the path that my genes are set to take. When the guitar thing happened, it was like looking down the barrel of a gun, a very subversive wake up call.

I'm not talking about being selfish, just the natural human reaction to self-preservation. And then I had pity for my family and family member who is suffering, and then for all who suffer from this. I do believe this is one of those things we can fix if we try.

Real quick, yes, stem cells come from embryos. Scientists want to use stem cells from embryos that are going to be thrown out. They do not want to use stem cells from abortions. Again, they do not want to use stem cells from abortions. Fertility clinics create embryos for women all the time. The women use the embryos and sometimes have children. The embryos they didn't use are kept frozen until they are destroyed. Scientists want to use these stem cells for their research.
