Well, I can't say that I'm not a little disappointed, but at the same time, I'm not all that surprised either. I believe Kerry probably did better than he should have. Though, I am surprised about the Senate and House loosing seats to the Republicans.
I really don't think Bush being elected markes the end of the western civilization, but I do think we're in for rough times. The world looks at us like we're a bunch of idiots. They seem to be more aware of the facts than Bush's supporters. Remember what Ron Reagan said? And I think that we're going to have a very tough time with freedoms in the next few years. I just know Ashcroft had a hardon when he woke up this morning with the thoughts of putting more people in jail for offending his good morals. The economy will continue to tank because of rising gas prices and prescription medicine. Maybe Cheney will get his way and finally be able to ruin Alaska and Yellowstone National Park for oil. And oh at the middle east. We will continue to ignore Palestine and continue mucking up things. Iraq will become the largest terrorist run state in the world. We opened the door for them, and they came right on in. Who knows what's going to happen with Bin Laden because we never caught him and the President doesn't seem to really want to.
I am worried that this election has, in W's mind, validated everything that he did. This is a man who can't see that he was wrong about a lot of things, and now the American voting public has just told him he was right. God helps us now that he is convinced he can do no wrong. And now he doesn't have to worry about doing things that hurt his chances in an election. He has free reign and a blank check.
There's also voter turnout. It wasn't exactly a big surprise. The huge upswelling of the youth vote didn't happen. That means that a lot of them are liars. Yes, liars. They said they were going to vote but didn't. And for those who did vote may be so disenfranchised that they may not vote in the next election.
Oh well. It is time to move on with our lives. There will be plenty of time in the future to say, "I told you so." That is if I have the freedom to say such things.
