My favorite part of today so far has been the calm I realized that I was in around 9 am. That's when I realized that my nephew had been in school for an hour. I love him to death, but that calm is wonderful as well.
It was a long weekend. I almost want to say of it: long is the way and hard that out of Hell leads up to the light. Almost.
Last night Auburn beat Virginia Tech 16 to 13. Auburn ends their seasons at 13 - 0. Not too shabby. I'm not going to jump on the bandwagon to change the way the college standings are calculated. I've been on that wagon for years. Any system that doesn't allow for a "Cinderella story" is flawed and should be done away with. Why? Doesn't it feel really good to see a struggling team do the improbably? This is why the Playoffs in the NFL are so memorable. Let's look at it another way. Let's take the philosophy of college standings for bowl games and apply it to each individual game. Let's say Team A has dominated Team B for 3 quarters but in the 4th quarter, Team B mounts a come back and wins by one point. If we use the philosophy of college standings, Team B, even though is ahead by one point, doesn't win the game because on paper, Team A played better. Is that fun to watch?
For the last few days, it has been warm here, unseasonably warm. Would I mention it if it wasn't unseasonably? It's just been warm enough to remind me that I'm not the biggest fan of warm weather. I also think that the weather will correct itself but probably in a heavy way. We'll see.
