Well, it's been a busy week. I just finished filing for Federal Financial Aid so that I can go back to school. For what? Mortuary Science. No joke. I hope to become a funeral director and embalm folks. No, this isn't just so that I can be around dead bodies all day. I just applied for aid, and it'll be awhile before I know for sure.

When people ask my what it is that I do, I tell them writer. They ask what. I tell them, horror, southern gothic, and dark fiction. They give me an awkward look like I had just told the most twisted joke. But when I tell most people about my interest in the funeral business, they give me an awkward look like I had just told the most twisted joke about dead children. What is up with that? I have friends who are so freaked out by death. They're also freaked out by ghosts.

Oh, go see White Noise if you have a chance. It's not the greatest movie ever made, but it did creep me out. I wonder if it's because I try to record my on EVPs? That could be. It's weird. I think the movie does fall apart slightly at the end. But I still like it. There was lots that could have been done to make it better. A tad bit more character development with the lead, played by Michael Keaton, would have been nice. And maybe they could have tightened the ending up a bit, having just a little more explained. Though, I got the jest of most of it, there has been one or two things that I can't figure out who was doing what and why. But I'm not going to go into details here because if you haven't seen it, I think you should if you like horror movies that aren't about stabbings.

Bare in mind, I also like the movie They, which also got horrible reviews. I thought that one was spooky because as a child, I suffered from night terrors. They is about night terrors. While some have complained about the ending, I thought it ended just the way it needed to or could have (yeah, I know there's an alternative ending on the DVD, but they're pretty much the same ending). They and White Noise are what I consider short stories made into movies. And sometimes, short stories end in twisted ways.

As you can tell by the length, I finally had a moment to post this week. There is just so much to still do. I guess I need to get back to it.
