Today is the 61st anniversary of D-Day. 61 years ago the average man, aka a hero, stormed the beaches of Normandy because they had to. It was known that many of them would die. But they had to breach the Atlantic Wall. They had to open a doorway for the free world to fight the axis of evil on the ground that they had taken and eventually their own homeland. Just like most of the film footage is in black and white, World War II was a war of good versus evil. The war was not only full of real villains and heroes, it was full of lessons that need to be remembered today.

Last night I watched Frailty. I sort of wanted to see this movie when it first came out thinking it was a horror movie about demons trying to get into Bill Paxton's house. I thought he would have to fight them off and somehow Matthew McConaughey was involved as a friend of Bill Paxton's character. I was wrong. Matthew plays Bill's son. Most of the movie is told during flashbacks. And it is a movie about a serial killer getting his kids to help him. I'm not ruining the story. You find about this in the first ten or so minutes. You also find out the religious beliefs that drive the killer. The rest of the movie is the story of how all this happened.

I really did like the movie. It was dark and disturbing. And even though you know what's basically going to happen -- there are a few twists, it's like watching a horrible car accident that you can't stop. There's some pretty disturbing things in the movie that remind me of Andrea Yates, a woman who drowned her kids in Texas because she thought God had told her to do so. Frailty is set in Texas. Frailty really is a very good Southern Gothic tale with some uncomfortable bits of truth.

Over the weekend, jh2media finished principle design on a redesign for one of our sites. I'm anxious for people to see it. I don't think it will be much longer before they do.

I had planned to do yard work today, but we're currently having bad weather. There's even flooding to worry about. Joy.
