THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BIRMINGHAM HAS ISSUED A
* FLOOD WATCH FOR CENTRAL ALABAMA...
* FROM 4 PM MONDAY TO 7PM TUESDAY
* HURRICANE KATRINA IS EXPECTED TO MAKE LANDFALL NEAR NEW ORLEANS
LOUISIANA EARLY MONDAY MORNING...AND CONTINUE TO TRACK NORTHWARD
INTO MISSISSIPPI...NEAR THE ALABAMA AND MISSISSIPPI STATE THROUGH
TUESDAY MORNING. AS IT IS WITH MOST TROPICAL SYSTEMS...THE HEAVIEST
RAINFALL WILL OCCUR ALONG AND EAST OF THE TRACK. AREAS WEST OF
INTERSTATE 65 COULD RECEIVE 3 TO 6 INCHES WITH ISOLATED HIGHER
AMOUNTS RANGING FROM 6 TO 8 INCHES. AREAS EAST OF INTERSTATE 65
COULD RECEIVE RAINFALL AMOUNTS BETWEEN 2 TO 4 INCHES WITH
ISOLATED HIGHER AMOUNTS.
A FLOOD WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR FLOODING BASED ON
CURRENT FORECASTS.
YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE ALERT FOR POSSIBLE
FLOOD WARNINGS. THOSE LIVING IN AREAS PRONE TO FLOODING SHOULD BE
