IntelliAdmin.com: Disable automatic install of IE 7
Don't want IE7? Then go above and learn how to disable the automatic installation of Internet Explorer 7.
I will not be upgrading to IE7. Imagine my shock to find out it'll be automatically installed with Windows Update and replace IE6. I run Update regularly; you have to with M$ software. I was cheesed to find out about M$ plans with IE7. I do not want IE7 for many reasons. The second reason is that I use Firefox. Why would I ever switch back to IE? Having IE behave and look like Firefox isn't going do it for me. But the main reason is that I build websites. How am I going to test a site for IE6 if I don't have it anymore? Sure, there's going to be a lot of people upgrading to IE7. But there are more people who use the web who don't even do updates and will never have IE7. I'd rather them all update, but they're not. You have to keep IE6 if you're going to do any kind of web work which means you can't let M$ automatically install it for you.
When IE7 is finally released, I may post a way to download it and use it as a stand along product. I may have to do that to test website for IE7. Right now, I'm just trying to keep M$ from screwing up my computer further.
