After being sick for the last few days, I thought I'd start a new video last night in hopes of feeling better. Of course, I can't say what the video is about, but it shouldn't take too long to complete.

Last night, I also watched Pulse. What can I say? Well, for almost an hour, it wasn't bad. Then it quickly fell apart. The characters became cliches, the whole internet part of the story became stupid, and the ending was hurried and typical Hollywood. It is a waste of a movie, and Wes Craven, co-writer, should be ashamed. To be honest, for a while there, I really thought they had something, an idea, a good idea. But they ruined it.

I think they could have made a better movie if, and this applies in general to films... Do character development and give up this notion of a 80 something minute movie. Drop the internet from the plot. People familiar with the internet get thrown out of stories when the internet lingo is made-up or misused and thrown around just for effect. Stop trying to wrap up a movie so that everything is explained. It's okay to confuse an audience and leave them guessing. Stop going for PG-13. If you're creepy and spooky, that's fine. You can do that very well in the realm of PG-13. Having having half-gore, half-violence, and half-scares just to keep it PG-13 is wrong. It leaves you thinking you missed something. And finally, Pulse is a remake of a Japaneses film, Kairo. If you are going to do that, do it exactly like the Japanese version, and if possible, hire the same director. Personally, I think you should just release the Japanese version in America.

Of course, Hollywood is still going to keep churning out the same kind of movies because they keep making money.  ¶ 6:07 PM
