IFILM - Television: Jon Stewart's Brutal Exchange with CNN Host

This is should be sold on DVD. I would give them away as Christmas gifts. I hate to watch Crossfire. It really is a bunch of fanatics yelling at each other just because they're on TV. Sometimes I think they're only fanatics because they're on TV.

At the end of Crossfire, they have done nothing but argued the extremes of the left and right. This gets us nowhere. This is not news and should not be on a news channel and certainly not CNN.

Somewhere in the night some evil gnomes sneaked into my bedroom and arranged me funny on my bed because my back doesn't feel so nice now. It's either that or I need a new bed.

I watched the Raiders and Broncos play last night in the snow. It seemed to snow through the entire game. It ended after the Raiders blocked a field goal and won, 25 - 24. Go Raiders.

I finally got Donnie Darko on DVD, though not the version I wanted. In Feb, Donnie Darko is coming out as a 2-disc directors cut here in the US. I can't wait for that version. But I am enjoying the one I have. It's interesting to listen to the director's audio commentary on the movie. Everything he seemed to go through I went through in the 7th and 8th grade, the Cunning Visions stuff for example. And who didn't have those kind of talent shows in the 80's?

Also, I am convinced now more than ever that Frank the Bunny is with me. Maybe it's my own personal version of Frank. Maybe we all have a version of Frank just waiting to tell us to wake up and do some things.

Sometimes, I think time itself is trying to consume me like some rabid beast with a poor rabbit in its claws.

    Friday, November 19, 2004

Go, Godaddy, Go! My site, along with my email, was down for at least four hours today. This was after it returned from being down for days. I wonder where my site went during it's short vacation. I guess it forgot something and had to go back and get it.

While my site was down, I spent most of that time changing the spark plugs and wires on my car in hopes of fixing it. I have this problem that sometimes when you're driving, you can hit the gas the car slows down like it's going to die. And sometimes when you are turning, it'll just die and take a moment to get started again. Once it does, it seems to run just fine. Well, changing the plugs and wires didn't fix the problem. Joy of joys.

It's currently raining. It hasn't rained in a while. Yesterday I read the nation's winter forecast. For the south they said wetter and cooler than normal. Oooh, what could that mean? Snow? I hope so. I don't mind the cold of winter. It's the never-ending gray wetland that we become that gets on my nerve. That's what we usually have. 40 degrees and a shower. Snow would liven the place up I think. Sure, it would shut the entire state down for a week, but I'd get to build a snowman. I've only been able to do that once in my life. I'd like to do it again.

Oh well. Time to read up on filters and valves and dozens of other things that could be wrong with my car.

    Thursday, November 18, 2004

Well, my site is back up finally. There is a "bug in the system" for sites who do not automatically renew on GoDaddy, the place which hosts my site. This seems to happen every now and then. This is why my site hasn't been here for two days. But I'm back up now.

    Sunday, November 14, 2004

It is amazing that after feeling just fine all day, in the span of less than 30 minutes, you can just get sick and angry. Well, I get angry when I'm sick. It just pisses me off to know that I'm not going to feel good and feel like being productive for a bit.

I am feeling better now, an hour later. I guess it was an ill bit of undigested chicken or something. Stupid chicken.

Thank you New Orleans Saints. I say that even though I love the Chiefs. But it was an amazing game for you guys. And my cheese-hat off to the Packers for another amazing game.

Since the completion of the Criminal Intent web project, my friend and I have received both good and negative feedback. While the feedback has been 99% good, the bad still bothers at least me. But at the same time, I know I can not please everybody with everything, especially in the nature of who I am. Think about it. If you look around my site, read some of my writings, you can easily tell I'm not shooting for world wide acceptance across the board. So I have to be ready for any kind of negative feedback, even if that feedback is misguided or inappropriate.

The CI web project was geared for the band and based on who they are, their lyrics, music, and suggestions. It was an amazing experience for us to create the site, extremely enjoyable as a creative project. I look forward to doing more. And a little surprising to me, I look forward to doing normal websites for normal customers. That's not a slam against the odd who need odd sites. It's just that I've never really had the opportunity to do a normal site, and I would love to see how one of ours compares to the rest of the normal sites out there. And we already have some folks interested in hiring us. And this before we get our portfolio site up.

So, yeah. Check the previous post and check out the CI site if you haven't already. And please feel free to leave feedback, both good and bad, about our work and about the band. They'd love to hear from folks.

    Criminal Intent
    http://www.criminalintentband.com

It is finished. Finally, my friend Jon and I have finished work on the Criminal Intent band web project. We are extremely pleased with the way the site turned out. It was full of a lot of pleasant surprises. There were also troubles and problems, but those things come with everything for free. And even those things helped make the site better. So they weren't all that bad.

So, go check out the site and let us know what you think. Also, have a listen to the band while you're there. Drop them a line in the message board. Say hello to monkey, and never mind the blood.

    Wednesday, November 10, 2004

It's finally raining, slow and thin. We haven't had any rain in a while so this isn't so bad.

Last night, I was finally able to make some progress on the coding of the website project. The front page took forever, but I've already finished major work on the html pages that make up the site. Some content needs to be added, but that won't take too long. I've already begun work on the message board. Message boards are always tricky, and I'm usually glad when I'm done with them. At the same time, I'm always very proud of the finished product.

This whole website project will be something my friend and I can be very proud of. And I'm not just saying that because we've built a site that may make some people nauseous either. That's just a bonus.

    Tuesday, November 09, 2004

Last night I began coding pages for the website project my friend and I are doing. I started with the front page. I took what we had designed and cut it up in slices, then saved the wrong file, had to start over, cut it up in slices again, saved the files wrong, had to resave, began putting the slices together in the html, had to start over and resize, and after about 6 hours straight, the front page was finished.

Then I had that moment were I thought this thing would take a week and a half to finish. But then I worked on the next page, the news page, and things went much faster. While I didn't get it finished, I was able to slice it, cut the slices, and plug them into the html to get about half of it finished in about an hour, much faster than the front page.

Slices are basically little squares and rectangles that you cut and save out as separate images. Then on the webpage, you put them together like a jigsaw puzzle. This helps large images load faster.

In other news, I submitted my short story "Dead to Us" to a publication. I hate postage. Why are stamps so expensive? It should be 25 cents. If any of the other shipping companies could come up with their version of a 25 cent stamp for letters, they'd put everybody else out of business.

    Thursday, November 04, 2004

Today is my birthday. I don't feel older. I just look it.

Last night my friend and I began the coding work on the website that we're building for a local band. We had previously put up a temporary site for them. Then we took photos of them and of my slowly-dying-house. All of which are being used to create their new site. The photos I believe are all the practical stuff that needs to be done. This may be the first time we've actually had enough material to create a website without having to scramble at the last few days.

I do not expect this site to take a long time to complete. The practical stuff did take some time because the film had to be sent off to be developed, but after last night, it appears that things will come together fairly quickly.

After that, we'll hurriedly put up a portfolio site and be open for business. We do have a name. I just don't want to say what it is until we have the portfolio site up, which won't be that much longer.

    Wednesday, November 03, 2004

Well, I can't say that I'm not a little disappointed, but at the same time, I'm not all that surprised either. I believe Kerry probably did better than he should have. Though, I am surprised about the Senate and House loosing seats to the Republicans.

I really don't think Bush being elected markes the end of the western civilization, but I do think we're in for rough times. The world looks at us like we're a bunch of idiots. They seem to be more aware of the facts than Bush's supporters. Remember what Ron Reagan said? And I think that we're going to have a very tough time with freedoms in the next few years. I just know Ashcroft had a hardon when he woke up this morning with the thoughts of putting more people in jail for offending his good morals. The economy will continue to tank because of rising gas prices and prescription medicine. Maybe Cheney will get his way and finally be able to ruin Alaska and Yellowstone National Park for oil. And oh at the middle east. We will continue to ignore Palestine and continue mucking up things. Iraq will become the largest terrorist run state in the world. We opened the door for them, and they came right on in. Who knows what's going to happen with Bin Laden because we never caught him and the President doesn't seem to really want to.

I am worried that this election has, in W's mind, validated everything that he did. This is a man who can't see that he was wrong about a lot of things, and now the American voting public has just told him he was right. God helps us now that he is convinced he can do no wrong. And now he doesn't have to worry about doing things that hurt his chances in an election. He has free reign and a blank check.

There's also voter turnout. It wasn't exactly a big surprise. The huge upswelling of the youth vote didn't happen. That means that a lot of them are liars. Yes, liars. They said they were going to vote but didn't. And for those who did vote may be so disenfranchised that they may not vote in the next election.

Oh well. It is time to move on with our lives. There will be plenty of time in the future to say, "I told you so." That is if I have the freedom to say such things.

    Tuesday, November 02, 2004

I just voted. Who wants to guess whom I voted for?

There were problems at the polling place. They seemed like new problems because folks were having to look up how to deal with things. The phone numbers that they had to call were busy here in Alabama. I can only imagine how things are going in other states, states of importance. Yes, our vote counts in Alabama, but not to my liking. We're a Republican state, red. We haven't wavered in years, and people don't even campaign down here anymore. Oh well. There were other things on the ballot that matter. I voted on everything.

While there were problems at the polling places, the inspectors and regulators there were very helpful to everybody. And I saw people helping others. Not telling them who, to vote for, but explaining how to vote. I saw an old white man helping a young black man vote. I call that progress in Alabama and will be one of the positive things I'll remember from this election.

    Go vote. Go vote now.

    Eminem - Mosh Video

Tomorrow is the day. I believe most people have made up their minds, and that anything I say is probably just preaching to the choir. But I do want to say a few things just in case it might make a difference.

Remember these words: Bush Declares War.

Nobody has found weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Nobody has.

There was no terrorist connection to Iraq. There wasn't.

These are things that Bush has admitted but really doesn't like to talk about during his campaign speeches.

Also remember that we had Bin Laden surrounded at one point and instead of rushing in to get him, Bush let other people handle it. Bin Laden is out there and just said, "Hi, how ya been?" And instead of continuing to go after Bin Laden, Bush focused on Iraq where he has been wrong time and time again.

Remember: Bush Declares War. Think about why he said we went to war, and then think about all the things he's had to admit about Iraq. He was wrong. We can't let him be wrong again.

And if you're afraid like Bush wants you to be, that's okay. Bush and his bunch have said a lot of scary things. Just remember that the president is not Superman and can not protect us with magical powers. We have the Military Forces of the United States of America to protect us and go after the bad guys before they can hurt us. Yes, 9/11 was a sneaky attack, but we're smarter now. We now know who we're dealing with. And instead of sending our forces to deal with these bad people, Bush sent them to Iraq. We should let our military and intelligence forces do their job and trust them. This is what those guys do, and they'll do it no matter who is president.

    Vote.

13 Stories of Horror, Madness, and Religion make up this dark-kudzu collection. A city run by angels with demanding burial rites. A white van jostling with clowns and warnings about sleep. A weeping pastor with a dead man in a boat. Homicide, Suicide, Jesus, and The Devil. To join a family, you're going to need some stitches. Kids today on their way to cut grass and play cowboys and injuns'. A hole in the ground where poor John Henry met a foul ending. And unholy birthing machines with a chosen one. All this and more.
