Twitter Updates:
Friday, January 30, 2009
I took some photos of a sunset early in January back when I thought it was cold. It's been colder since. I uploaded them to Picasa early this month, but I decided to upload them to Flickr and try out a slideshow using tags. There is a very good chance I did the tags wrong so in the future, there may be more photos in this stream than I intended. Wednesday, January 28, 2009
Just the photos I took last week of the Train and Mining Equipment at the Dora Mining Museum. The equipment seems to be in good shape, however, the train looks to be rusting away, which is sad. Nobody seems to be taking care of any of it. It's just sitting there. Friday, January 23, 2009
I am in the process of redesigning this site. How far have I gotten? How long is a piece of string?
Somebody asked why I don't embed all my YouTube stuff into one page instead of having popups. The reason why is because when I go to a site with a lot of video embeds, I start one and if I don't like it, I click pause and start another one. If there are several videos, this can add up. Before I know it, I'm downloading several videos on pause that I'm not going to watch, killing my bandwidth. Of course, I'd love everybody to watch my videos, but I also don't want to bog them down if they don't like a video or two and just want to keep clicking until they find one they do like. The same goes with my Vimeo videos. Soon, they'll be part of the media page. I'm still working on that. I really do want some kind of rss catch-all for YouTube and Vimeo. Probably more so for Vimeo than YouTube. I was hoping WordPress was it. Maybe it is, and I haven't found the right addons. Here's what I want WordPress to do. I want to keep Blogger and have it just be a part of WordPress. I want rss feeds from YouTube, Vimeo, and Twitter. I do not want to transfer my blog to WordPress. I do want to keep Blogger. I like having things on Google's servers (Blogger is part of Google). I would love control of how YouTube and Vimeo are shown in the rss feed. I haven't found it yet, this kind of integration and control, but it feels like it's right around the corner. Sunday, January 18, 2009
![]() ![]() ![]() Just some shots I took with a Kodak Z1285 the evening of the last cold snap (temps below 10!). Click for larger images. Obviously the exposure was a bit long causing car lights to streak, which I love doing. I've got to get a video camera that does something in low light and night instead. With all this new media coming in, I need to redesign the site to accommodate it. I keep putting it off, so I'll probably keep putting it off. Circular logic is one of my special powers. But at least now I know for sure that I need to redesign. That's the first step. Monday, January 05, 2009
![]() Another night shot with a Kodak Z1285. This time, it was foggy. It's foggy now. It's January, warm, foggy, and a thunder storm just rolled through. Yeah, it's Winter in Alabama now. Saturday, January 03, 2009
The Christmas Eve Tornado from A Musing Propaganda on Vimeo. No joke, we had a tornado on Christmas Eve. Might have had something to do with the fact that we had shrimp as part of our dinner. I don't know. I was unable to get this one up on YouTube like the last one. They are still truncated the HD versions of whatever I upload. And there's no way to directly contact YouTube for help, I'm left posting on their forums and hoping that somebody who knows somebody who's cousin's date's brother's sister who works at YouTube stumbles across the posts. Source: MinDV 620 x 480i 24 fps exported to 720p HD, Quicktime MP4, H.264, 24 fps, Frame Distance 30, Frame Recording On, Deinterlace On, Bitrate 3,120 kbits/sec. ![]() Just a shot I took with a Kodak Z1285 with the Night Scene setting. I was only able to get one before the battery died. Boy, they eat batteries. |

Buy my book.
From a Hole in the Sky 13 Stories of Horror, Madness, and Religion make up this dark-kudzu collection. A city run by angels with demanding burial rites. A white van jostling with clowns and warnings about sleep. A weeping pastor with a dead man in a boat. Homicide, Suicide, Jesus, and The Devil. To join a family, you're going to need some stitches. Kids today on their way to cut grass and play cowboys and injuns'. A hole in the ground where poor John Henry met a foul ending. And unholy birthing machines with a chosen one. All this and more. Where do bad things come from? They come FROM A HOLE IN THE SKY. The Alabama Weather Blog A blog of the current forecasts, watches, and warnings for the state of Alabama. The posts are automatically generated from E-forecast and E-warn e-mails from my local ABC Network Affiliate, ABC 33/40. The images are from the National Weather Service. The site will refresh itself every ten minutes. |
